T4 engine genius needed. Problems with replacement engine. First a bit of background I have a 02 T4 2.5 TDI ajt 88bhp van, when I bought it I was told it had uprated injectors and had been mapped which I was given a dyno readout as proof. Just bought a 2007 T5 2.5tdi and went to have it serviced at my local garage. Engine management light has come on and stayed on and they say it sounds noisy (rattly) and rough. Suggested it could be major problems. I have had a bunch of those 102Hp engines, where the stock turbo does not do more than 1,1 bar of pressure. Even the Wastegate stays closed all the way up to 4K rpm. That limit's the power to app. 135-140Hp without extreme smoke levels. I'm also running in on LPG so as mentioned, works out equivalent of about 35-40mpg. Otherwise on petrol between 18-22mpg. The LPG option is the great thing going for the petrol, although I've heard they can do diesel engines now as well. Reply Like. Run engine for a few mins to let filter fill up properly, and allow oild to flow around engine then turn off & leave oil to settle back into sump for 10mins. Then re-check oil level at dipstick & top up as necessary. Put a 50mm jubilee clip on the end of the plastic pipe that connects to the turbo, make sure the 7mm bolt on the clip is facing the rear of the plastic pipe as per picture 1, nip it up slightly so it doesn't fall off but can't be moved if needed with a small bit of force. I think the AXD/AXE are the T5 first generation 2.5 engines, 130/174 PS, meeting Euro 3 emissions. In order to meet Euro 4, I think for the 2007 model year onwards they switched to BNZ/BPC, still 130/174, but now with the less than desirable DFP. That cant be right. If normal engine oil is fine then maybe used chip oil will do as well? I dont think i would use engine oil in the gearbox for the sake of a few pounds difference? The problem i've got is the engine number isnt on the vehicle registration number and this has been logically confirmed by my dealership due it being an irish import. When I locate the engine number I can log it with the DVLA. The guys on the UK T4 Forum website have given me some directions. All your help has been appreciated, many thanks x Vc5h2q.
